Act 1, Scene 6

A powerful metaphor is used during the soliloquy by Duncan at the very start of this scene. When Duncan arrives at the castle, he says “This castle hath a pleasant seat; the air nimbly and sweetly recommends itself unto our gentle senses.” When Duncan chooses to use these words, he is showing to his hosts that he is grateful to be welcomed into their castle, and further on in the scene repeatedly expresses his excitement to meet with Macbeth.
