Isle of Dogs Essay

In the stop-motion film “Isle of dogs” directed by Wes Anderson, Atari and Chief have a key relationship throughout the movie which helps describe how much Chief changes from an angry dog to a caring dog.

Chief is a stray dog that has been on Trash Island for a long time along with his companions, Duke, King, Boss and Rex. He is feared by many and is not one you would want to get into a fight with. Chief has a line in the movie where he says “I bite”. Chief uses this to put fear into others so that they will obey him and be scared of him.

This was all before Atari came into his life. When Atari crash landed on Trash Island looking for his long lost dog Spots, the dogs were very caring and helpful with Atari, except for Chief. Chief was very hesitant when Atari first arrived, but as time went on, he began to open up. Eventually, Chief and Atari found themselves alone with each other which brought out Chief’s soft side. He began to be more accepting of how Atari is and how affectionate he was towards him.
