Gattaca Paragraph On Modernism

The film Gattaca, directed and written by Andrew Nichol, shows us a place called Gattaca where genetic selection is connected to its modernist architecture by its lack of variation or personality. People born naturally in Gattaca are called ‘God Children’ because they are born without the perfect genetic features which sets them back from the others. The other people who are selected before birth are selected for their genetic perfection which gives them a boost from the others who are disadvantaged. With most people having gone through this selection process, this leaves very little variation or personality within the population of Gattaca as parents want to give their children the best future they can have. The buildings within the film also lack in variation and have very similar designs which makes everything look the same. This connects the buildings to the people as there are very few naturally born children and very few design variations in the buildings.
